The Dubai Sports Council yesterday announced that Dubai has won the bid to host the eighth annual Sportaccord Convention from April 25-30, 2010, bringing the prestigious event to the Middle East for the first time in its history.
The much-heralded Atlantis resort has been selected as the host venue for this gathering of over 1,500 leading representatives of international sport, which will include the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee including its President, Jacques Rogge and the leaders of over 100 international sports federations.
The gathering also brings together sponsors, bidding and host cities, architects, sports lawyers, broadcasters, games organising committees, rights holders and other specialists to discuss the key issues facing the sports industry.
The host in Dubai and the delivery partner is the Dubai Sports Council under the Chairmanship of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and who himself an accomplished international sportsman.
Every year Sportaccord Week features a dynamic exhibition, numerous networking receptions and top-level conference sessions, including the City Forum, as well as the annual general meetings of the Sports Governing Bodies.
